A 23-year-old Prince George man has been arrested in relation to the shooting incident Tuesday morning at a local motel.

The suspect was apprehended Wednesday afternoon, Prince George RCMP said. His name was not released because he has not yet been charged.

Police remain in the hunt for more suspects in what they said was a targeted shooting related to the drug trade.

"The Prince George RCMP do not believe the general public is at risk," police added.

RCMP were called to the Queensway Court Motel near Queensway and 17th Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. where they found a man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital and is expected to survive.

The suspects had fled in a vehicle before police arrived and both a helicopter and a police service dog and handler were soon called in for a search that lasted most of the morning but without success.

Police are asking anyone who may have information related to the shooting to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300 or to anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
