Suspect arrested after bylaw officers threatened

A man is in custody after he allegedly threatened two city bylaw officers in a downtown parkade on Saturday.

George William Alexis, 47, has been charged with two counts each of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats and one count each of obstructing police, breaching probation and breaching a release order.

RCMP said they were called at about 1:15 p.m. to a report of a man threatening the officers both verbally and with blunt objects and found Alexis a short distance away. They said he initially provided a false name and once he was accurately identified, he was found to have an arrest warrant out of Quesnel.

He was remanded to appear in court on Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
