Provincial Crown counsel has approved a charge of possession of stolen property over $5,000 against a 35-year-old Prince George man allegedly found behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.

Boyd Allison Mattess was arrested early Thursday morning, nearly a day after Prince George RCMP received a report just after 6 a.m. Wednesday that two masked men forcibly stole cash and a vehicle outside a home near the corner of Redwood Street and Strathcona Avenue.

RCMP first noticed a vehicle matching the description at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday near Malaspina Avenue and Domano Boulevard. The driver ignored police and failed to stop but a few minutes later, it was seen near Cowart Road and Highway 16 West and this time, the driver pulled over.

Two women who were also in the vehicle were released without charges.
