Smoke from wildfires in the United States has subsided enough for Environment Canada to end a special air quality statement for Prince George and Stuart-Nechako..

The move was made just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, roughly four days after it had been put in place due to smoke from the fires.

Air quality statements remained in place for southern B.C. and Vancouver Island as of Tuesday afternoon.
