Firefighters were called to a house fire on Zimmaro Avenue Thursday morning, after a fire broke out while a resident was repairing their snowblower.
Fire crews were called to the house at 8:30 a.m., where they fiound smoke and flames coming from the building, a fire department press release said. A single person was home at the time of the fire, and was able to escape and call 911.
The resident did receive medical attention as a precaution, and several firefighters suffered minor injuries due to slips and falls, the release said.
"Fire crews initiated a fast offensive attack, but with the cold weather impeding on their equipment and gear, entry was not successful," the release said. "Fire crews eventually gained control of the fire and an interior attack was performed to extinguish the fire."
Damage to the house was estimated at approximately $300,000.
