The Prince George RCMP's investigation of Tuesday evening's shooting of a local man has led to a seizure of a trove of firearms and drugs from a Parkview Crescent home.

In a statement issued this morning, RCMP said police had gone to the home to speak to the occupants about the shooting when they spotted a handgun on the kitchen counter.

The discovery prompted a further search that uncovered another handgun, a SKS rifle, another rifle with a suppressor, ammunition, body armour, a significant amount of cash, and a large quantity of drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis.

Three men and a woman were arrested and later released pending further investigation and charge approval. Their names were not released but RCMP{ said their ages range from 19 to 22 years old.

"Neither the firearms nor the persons arrested are believed to be directly involved in the shooting," RCMP said.

A 28-year-old man suffered a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound in what police have called a targeted, drug-related shooting. It occurred on Tuesday at about 8 p.m. on Wiggins Place, off Moss Avenue, in South Fort George.

RCMP are treating the incident as an act of attempted murder and have made the case a priority. They are also stressing that there is no reason to believe the public in general is at risk.

Also on Wednesday, RCMP seized a handgun and an SUV as evidence as part of the investigation. A nearby resident had found the handgun in a snow bank on Moss Avenue and the SUV was found on Upland Street with broken windows and other damage that appeared to be from several bullet holes.
