Christmas came early for three regional fire departments.

On Thursday the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George board of directors approved plans to finance the purchase of new fire trucks for the Ness Lake, Pineview and McBride and District volunteer fire departments.

"Thank you for funding (Fire Chief Dave Hruby's) new fire engine. He's already painted flames on the side of the engine, so it would be hard to return now," Area H director Dannielle Allen joked.

The Ness Lake department is getting a new frontline water tender at a cost of $319,388, plus tax. Of that, $170,800 will be financed over five years through the Municipal Finance

Authority, while the remainder will come from equipment reserve funds and this year's operational budget.

The Pineview Volunteer Fire Department will receive a new frontline fire engine worth $414,400 plus tax. A total of $139,090 is being financed, while the remainder is coming from a truck replacement reserve fund.

And McBride's new frontline fire engine cost $587,792, with $241,350 being financed and the remainder coming from truck replacement reserve funds.
