Prince George RCMP scaled new heights on Friday night when they made a rooftop arrest.

RCMP were called at about 8:45 p.m. to a report of a man trying to break into a downtown business via the top of a1400-block Third Avenue building.

Police tried to talk him off his perch but he refused and instead tried to escape by running across neighbouring building tops but without success.

Jake Patrick Toby, 26, was taken into custody and has since been charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an offence, willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer and mischief $5,000 or under.

Toby, who remains in custody, has a record for petty crimes.
