A man well known to police and the court is in custody after allegedly stealing a backpack and several electronic devices from a vehicle.
Kurt Werner Steinhauser, 35, was arrested Thursday evening. Police said he was seen making the thefts on Fourth Avenue near Ontario Street and was apprehended as he attempted to flee on a bicycle.
Charges of theft and possession of stolen property have been approved against Steinhauser.
He also continues to face charges of theft, possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose from an alleged September incident and is on probation for convictions of theft and trafficking in stolen goods.
