A pit stop in Prince George proved lucky for one New Brunswick man.

Jeremy Ross was in B.C. for work in November, and stopped at the Day & Night Store on Carmel Drive to fill up with gas and buy a few lottery tickets. When he checked his tickets at a gas station a few days later, he discovered he'd won $75,000 on a BC/49 ticket.

“The machine started to go off and the screen popped up as a $75,000 winner,” Ross said in a press release by the B.C. Lottery Corp. “The retailers were excited since this had never happened before.”

Ross, who lives in Fredericton, said his family thought he was "clowning around" when he called them to share the news.

He has no immediate plans for the money, but said he was very grateful to be a winner.

“It just doesn’t feel real," Ross said. "Like I say, ‘it's not real until I have the chicken in my hand.’”
