Crown counsel has approved charges against a local man following a collision Friday afternoon between a car and an RCMP patrol vehicle at Fifth and Central.

Daniel Arvey Webster, 30, faces one count each of dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer under the Criminal Code and one count of driving while prohibited under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Prince George RCMP have said collision at about 3 p.m. occurred after police determined the suspect had been driving a car with a stolen licence plate and had tried to pull him over. The suspect tried to flee the police on foot following the crash but was quickly apprehended, RCMP also said.

In October 2014, Webster, who has a length criminal record, was sentenced to 36 days in jail and prohibited from driving for three years for driving while his licence was suspended under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Webster was released from custody on Saturday on $5,000 bail and his first appearance in court is scheduled for July 24.
