A man with a criminal history in Prince George faces charges after he was extricated from a pickup truck allegedly stolen in Boston Bar and driven off the road near Lytton.

Justin Timothy Bjorklund, 27, was arrested Monday morning when Lytton RCMP were notified of the suspected theft and that the vehicle was heading to the village along the Trans Canada Highway.

RCMP said they soon spotted a truck matching the description traveling above the posted speed limit and moments later found it off the side of the highway. Bjorklund was extricated and taken by air ambulance to a regional hospital.

Investigators also located what they believe to be stolen property items inside the wreckage.

Bjorklund remains in custody on counts of possessing stolen property under $5,000, unlawfully dealing with identity documents and two counts of breaching probation.

In December 2019, he was sentenced in Prince George provincial court to 60 days in jail for possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and has an extensive criminal record for offences committed in the Lower Mainland as well as in this city.
