Homicide investigation launched after body found south of city

Police are treating as a homicide the discovery Saturday afternoon of a body of a man in a ditch along West Lake Estates Road, off Blackwater Road, south of the city. RCMP were called to the scene at 1:30 p.m.

Police are treating as a homicide the discovery Saturday afternoon of a body of a man in a ditch along West Lake Estates Road, off Blackwater Road, south of the city.

RCMP were called to the scene at 1:30 p.m., three hours after volunteer fireighters were called out to deal with a vehicle fire on Chilako Station Road in the Beaverly area.

The vehicle appeared to have been abandoned and police are trying to determine whether there is a connection between the two.

RCMP said the man was 40 years old and from Prince George but released no further details.

They're asking anyone with information about suspicious vehicles or persons on West Lake Estates Road, Blackwater Road, Lower Mud River Road, Chilako Station Road or McBride Timber Road on Saturday morning to contact Prince George RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
