The B.C. Centre for Disease Control recorded four more deaths from COVID-19 in Northern Health on Wednesday.

The count raised the total to 47 in the region since the pandemic broke out and were among 12 reported across the province, raising that running total to 1,031.

Details on the four in Northern Health were not immediately available.

BCCDC reported 45 new cases in Northern Health but active cases stood at 480, down from 497 on Monday and Tuesday. Hospitalizations stood at 38, down by five from Tuesday. The number of patients in intensive care due to the virus held steady at 16.

B.C.-wide, active cases declined by 325 to 4,810 with Fraser Health accounting for 2,208, Vancouver Coastal 906, Interior 905 and Vancouver Island 199.

Northern Health, meanwhile, provided an update on the outbreaks at Jubilee Lodge and the rehabilitation unit and internal medicine unit at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.

As of Wednesday, nine cases at Jubilee remain active while 25 are considered recovered. Deaths remained at 14 after seeing two deaths over the weekend.

At the rehabilitation unit, two more cases have been identified, raising the total there to three and at the internal medicine unit, the count stood at 19 patients and 12 staff testing positive. There has been one death, reported earlier this month, related to that outbreak.
