Two Prince George brothers have received jail terms as the result of a July 2011 drugs and weapons bust.
James Edward Hammer, 59, was sentenced to 17 months in jail in Prince George provincial court on Monday for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon with ammunition.
Joseph William Hammer, 52, who had remained in custody since his arrest 20 months ago, was sentenced to one more day in jail for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Both were also issued lifetime firearms prohibitions.
The sentences stem from a July 5, 2011 raid on a 3400 block Westwood Drive home where, police said at the time, powdered cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin and morphine were seized along with trafficking paraphernalia and a large quantity of cash.
Police also uncovered one loaded and one unloaded handgun, a rifle, a cross bow with arrows, a composite bow with arrows, brass knuckles, and a large hunting knife. None of the weapons stored properly.
In September 2011, Joseph Hammer escaped sentencing after he was found guilty of trafficking cocaine from an October 2007 incident because the case took too long to conclude.
Judge Michael Brecknell, who blamed a lack of resources for the 43 months it took to reach a verdict, called Hammer an "unrepentant drug dealer" but still remained entitled a verdict in a timely manner under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
