The Victoria Royals downed the Prince George Cougars 5-2 on Saturday in the capitol. Ben Walker, Jack Palmer, Brandon Magee and Axel Blomqvist scored four unanswered goals for the Royals in the first period.

The Cariboo Cougars got off to a rough start on Friday at the Mac's AAA Midget World Invitational hockey tournament, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Notre Dame Argos from Saskatchewan in Calgary.

The Prince George peewee Tier 3 Cougars earned a win and a tie during a weekend visit to 100 Mile House. Reid Mosdell scored the tying goal with less than a minute to go on Saturday as the teams skated to a 3-3 draw.

Year in Review

After being delayed a week by snowy conditions, the official opening of the Outdoor Ice Oval is scheduled for today. The oval, located in Exhibition Park behind CN Centre, will hold its opening from noon to 3 p.m.

Every game will be tough. The Northland Dodge Cougars are well aware of that fact. Nonetheless, they're happy with their schedule for the Mac's AAA Midget Hockey Tournament.

The Prince George Spruce Kings have the chance to give themselves the gift of first place. With the Christmas break looming, the Kings have games tonight in Surrey and Friday in Chilliwack.

For the 11th consecutive year, the College Heights Cougars and PGSS Polars will battle for high school hockey supremacy. The annual Spirit of Hockey and Community Cup -- featuring the Cougars and Polars -- will face off Friday at CN Centre.
