This could be the night Chase Witala becomes the all-time leading point-producer for the Prince George Cougars.

The Cougars will step onto the ice at Prospera Place to battle the Kelowna Rockets tonight. Witala, a 20-year-old forward who is in his final season with the Cougars, enters the game just one point behind Troy Bourke for the franchise points lead. Currently, Witala sits at 119 goals and 235 points in 298 games.

Last Saturday at CN Centre in a 4-1 win against the Spokane Chiefs, the homegrown Witala notched two assists to put himself on the verge of tying Bourke, who appeared in 276 games for the Cougars.

Counting tonight's game, Witala and the Cougars have five left on their regular-season schedule.

Witala's next goal will also be his 40th of the season, the same number fired by teammate Jesse Gabrielle so far.

Currently, the Cats sit third in the B.C. Division with a 36-27-3-1 record and 76 points.

They hold the final guaranteed playoff spot in the division and started Tuesday three points ahead of the Kamloops Blazers, who are in the first wildcard spot.

The Blazers visited the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night.

The Rockets - who were B.C. Division frontrunners for most of the season - are now second to the blistering-hot Victoria Royals. Kelowna has a 44-18-3-0 mark, good for 91 points, while Victoria owns a record of 45-16-3-3 and has 96 points. In their past 10 games, the Royals have skated to an 8-1-1-0 record.

The Cougars will be in Victoria for Friday and Sunday games and will close out their schedule with a March 18-19 home-and-home series with the Blazers.
