Wild want a closer look at Connolly

The plan was to travel from Philadelphia, back home to Prince George.

Brett Connolly never got here.

During his trip north, after he had watched the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final, he got a call from the Minnesota Wild and was asked to come for a visit. The Wild own the ninth selection in the upcoming NHL entry draft and have shown considerable interest in Connolly.

Connolly, NHL Central Scouting's third-ranked North American skater, was in the Vancouver airport on Sunday, preparing to head south of the border again.

"(The Wild) are picking ninth this year so if on the outside I do drop that far, I think that they'd grab me," Connolly told The Citizen via cell phone. "I've got to meet with their doctors and all that."
