Jared Young is back in the bigs.
The New York Mets announced Tuesday they’ve recalled the 30-year-old Prince George native from their triple-A affiliate in Syracuse, NY, after placing outfielder Tyrone Taylor on the 10-day injured reserve list with a hamstring strain.
Young has been hitting with power and playing consistently well with Syracuse, primarily as in infielder. Through 66 games in triple-A he hit .306 with a .964 OPS, 15 home runs, three triple, 13 doubles and 46 RBI.
This is his third stint this season with the Mets, who signed him to a one-year deal.
Through 19 games with New York in 2025, Young hit for a .171 batting average with three home runs , five RBI and a .637 OPS.
The Mets heading the final month of the season two games behind the San Diego Padres for the second National League wild-card playoff spot. New York is six games back of the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East.
The Mets beat the Tigers in Detroit 12-5 on Tuesday, Sept. 2. It was the second night of a three-game series, with the Mets winning 10-8 Monday, Sept. 1 and the third game happening Wednesday.
