The WIC bantam female Cougars kept up their momentum Monday at the provincial championship tournament.

The Cougars beat the West Kootenay Wildcats 2-1 in close, but dominant fashion.

With 59 shots on the Wildcats net and only nine in return, Don Knoop, the Cougars head coach, credited the Wildcat's goalie with keeping the game close.

The Cougars are within striking distance of the top spot of their A division pool and in contention for a medal.

"The girls fought an incredible team game to put us into the medal round," said Knoop.

Jayden Malgunas potted the first goal for the Cougars with an assist going to Chantelle Beadman-Rolph.

The game winner went to forward Ava Keis, with Sabrina Knoop and Madison Fjellstrom picking up the helpers.

The bantam girls face off against the North Shore Avalanche today at 3 p.m.
