The Prince George Spruce Kings surrendered four goals in the first period and suffered a 5-0 shut-out loss to the hands of the West Kelowna Warriors Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors added another goal in the third period to earn the victory and that snapped the Kings brief two-game winning streak in the B.C. Hockey League.
It was Prince George's first loss in a weekend three-game road trip to the Interior, after they defeated the Trail Smoke Eaters 5-3 Friday and the Merritt Centennials 4-3 Saturday.
The Kings remain in first place in the Mainland Division at 12-7-0-2, three points ahead of the second-place 11-4-0-1 Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Warriors sit second in the Interior Division at 11-5-0-3, 10 points back of the first-place Penticton Vees (17-3-0-1).
Sunday afternoon in West Kelowna, former Spruce King Michael Buonincontri started off the scoring for the Warriors as Mac Ferner, Brent Mennear and Brayden Gelsinger also tallied for a 4-0 lead in a 10-minute span in the first period.
Kings' starting netminder Jesse Jenks was pulled after the Warriors third goal after he allowed three goals on six shots, in favour of Alex Brooks-Potts who went on to stop 16 of 18 shots he faced.
Prince George fired 42 shots on Warriors goaltender Scott Patton but couldn't find the back of the twine.
Saturday in Merritt, Jake LeBrun scored twice in the second period, including a powerplay marker to help lead the Kings to a 4-3 win.
Jeremiah Luedtke and Alex Stoley also notched goals as the Kings scored once in the first period and three times in the second for a 4-1 lead.
Merritt's Nick Fidanza scored a pair of goals in the third, but the Centennials couldn't score the equalizer to send the game into overtime.
Brooks-Potts picked up the win between the pipes, sweeping aside 29 of 32 shots.
Jonah Imoo suffered the loss, stopping 15 of 19 shots in the first and second periods. Anthony Pupplo stopped all six shots he faced in the third period.
The Kings return to the Coliseum for a three-game home stand that begins Wednesday (7 p.m.) when they host the Vernon Vipers. The Surrey Eagles are in town Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14 and 15. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
