The Warriors are coming out to play today.
After taking a break from the action Wednesday at the five-team Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup junior A hockey tournament, the West Kelowna Warriors hit the ice this afternoon to take on the Melfort Mustangs.
It will be the final game of the round-robin for the Warriors (2-1) who have a chance to clinch a spot in the first versus second playoff on Saturday. The winner of that game will lock up a berth in the RBC Cup national tournament in Lloydminster, Sask., May 14-22. The loser would have to play an additional game Sunday against the winner of Saturday's third-versus-fourth playoff for the second RCB Cup berth.
In Wednesday's only game, the Brooks Bandits of Alberta handed the Portage Terriers a 9-3 loss to improve to 3-0. In today's late game, the Estevan Bruins face the Bandits.
The Warriors, including Prince George minor hockey graduates Jake LeBrun and Liam Blackburn, both forwards, as well as former Spruce Kings forward Bryan Basilico, won their first B.C. Hockey League championship this season.
