Mercedes Van Koughnett had a stellar weekend in helping the University of Northern British Columbia women's basketball team remain undefeated and was rewarded by nabbing PACWEST player of the week honours.
Van Koughnett had nine points, nine rebounds, six assists and seven steals in Friday's 60-52 win over Vancouver Island University Mariners, and was a calming influence on her younger teammates in the fourth quarter as the visiting Mariners made a late-game charge.
In Saturday's 62-59 win over the Camosun Chargers, Van Koughnett had 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals and helped the T-wolves at both ends of the court to rebound from a three-quarter deficit.
The T-wolves wrapped up the first half of the season with a 6-0 record.
