Prince George secondary school field will be site of an ultimate contribution from some of the city's frisbee fanatics on Saturday, June 18.

On that day, from 8 to 9 p.m., Prince George will take part in the Great Canadian Ultimate Game, a two-day 27-city event that starts the day before in Yellowknife.

The charity event will pit a white team, which represents the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, and a red team, representing Ultimate Peace.

Prince George will take over from a segment of the game that was played the previous hour in Edmonton. Players in Prince George will pick up the score at the point where the Edmonton game ended, and the relay will continue one hour later in North Shore (North and West Vancouver). At 9 p.m., a new one-hour game will begin in that city, where the players will pick up the score at the point where the Prince George game ended. The relay wraps up in Surrey at midnight that night.

The winning team will receive 60 per cent of the funds raised, while the losing team will get 40 per cent of the proceeds.

"This is the second year for this -- I think last year we raised $200 locally and $5,000 nationally and people seem to like the idea," said Greg Jonuk, president of the Prince George Disc Sports.

"It's different this year because it starts in the west, sweeps across the country and ends up in the west. Last year we had enough for two teams. It's a lot of fun."

Ultimate is otherwise known as frisbee football. It combines elements of football, basketball and soccer. Prince George Disc Sports is hosting the Prince George game.

PG Ultimate will host its annual tournament June 25 at PGSS.
