The D.P. Todd Trojans outlasted the College Heights Cougars and were rewarded with a championship.
On Saturday at College Heights secondary school, the Trojans defeated the host Cougars 8-25, 25-11, 17-15 in the final of the Grade 8 boys volleyball district tournament. The deciding set was tense and emotional and featured several lead changes. Finally, the Trojans were able to put the Cougars away.
In the bronze-medal match, the PGSS Polars beat the Kelly Road Roadrunners 25-15, 25-20.
In the junior B boys districts, also at College Heights, the Cougars downed the Duchess Park Condors 21-25, 25-20, 15-12 in the title match.
For bronze, the Valemount Timber Wolves slipped past the Cedars Christian School Eagles 19-25, 25-11, 15-8.
