Track club hands out the hardware

Carly Frenkel and Kirsten Ward, both 18, were named most outstanding senior athletes at the Prince George Track and Field Club's annual award ceremony on the weekend. Frenkel picked up 12 medals this season, seven of which were gold.

Frenkel picked up 12 medals this season, seven of which were gold.

The most outstanding senior men were Zach Matyas, 18, and Jeremy Matte.

Matyas' outdoor season included a fifth-place finish in the 800-metres at the Victoria International meet. He also finished sixth in the Olympic development 800m race at the Harry Jerome International meet.

In the youth age group, (14-17), Alex Nemethy, 17, and Cole Dinsdale, 16, were both named most outstanding athletes.

Outstanding youth girls were Lindsay King, 14 and Kendel Rogers. King picked up 14 medals at local and out-of-town meets while Rogers claimed a number of medals including a silver in pole vault at the B.C. Summer Games.

Simon Nemethy and Tanner Matheson were named most outstanding junior boys (9-13-year-olds), while Taigan Wheele, Cassidy Campbell and Morgan Wiebe were named outstanding junior girls.

Sinead O'Callaghan and Frenkel won the club's Al Rivas Scholarships.
