The UNBC Timberwolves took the top-ranked UBC Thunderbirds out of their comfort zone Friday night ina U Sports Canada West men's soccer game at Masich Place Stadium.

At 1:46 into the game Timberwolves forward Stu Rowlands was able to pick up the loose ball after a small collision with Thunderbirds keeper Jason Roberts and was easily able to tuck the ball into the wide open cage to give UNBC an early lead.

UBC did not go down quietly peppering Timberwolves keeper Daniel Zadravec with shots and Zadravec was able to keep the Thunderbirds at bay until the 62nd minute when Victory Shumbusho scored his fourth goal of the season to tie up the game. UBC struck again with
Kerman Pannu scoring his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute which was the eventually game winner with the Thunderbirds walking away with a 2-1 victory.

The same two teams meet again Sunday at noon on the pitch at Masich Place Stadium.

The UNBC women  (3-1-2) are on the road Saturday afternoon in Kelowna to face the UBC-Okanagan Heat (0-6) and will be in Kamloops Sunday afternoon to play the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
