The weather co-operated as PGARA Speedway hosted stock car races Saturday, June 14.
Clear skies marked the second race of the WESCAR season, coming hot on the heels of the series opener in Williams Lake the night before. Eighteen late models hit the track in Prince George, including local drivers Darrell Horwath and Sheldon Mayert and defending WESCAR points champion Jarrett Bonn of Quesnel.
WESCAR rookie Nolan Perry won the 100-lap main event, taking the checkered flag ahead of seasoned veteran Korbin Thomas, who won the WESCAR main Friday in Williams Lake, and third-place Bob Reichert.
Fans were treated to a full slate of racing action, with WESCAR dashes, heat races, and a 100-lap main event sharing the program with three PGARA classes: Ron’s Towing hornets, Chieftain Auto Parts ministocks and Canadian Tire street stocks.
The night also marked the full rollout of PGARA’s new timing system, designed to automatically handle race results, points standings, and race lineups. After a partial test on May 24 was cut short by rain, the system ran smoothly on Saturday and was well-received by racers and officials alike.
