Tier 1 Cats are provincial champions

The Coast Inn of the North Cougars are provincial midget Tier 1 hockey champions. They defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-2 in the championship game Thursday night in Comox.

The Coast Inn of the North Cougars are provincial midget Tier 1 hockey champions.

They defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-2 in the championship game Thursday night in Comox.

After a scoreless opening period, the Cougars drew first blood when Tyson Ghostkeeper deflected in a shot with eight seconds left in the second period. Landon Moleschi added to the count, 52 seconds into the third period, when he scored on a breakaway, sprung free on a pass from James Gordon.

The Rockets came back to tie it but with 5:06 remaining, Ghostkeeper scored his second of the game and the Cougars iced it in the final minute with an empty-netter.
