A three-team gold-medal winning Olympian and a Stanley Cup winner will try to inspire the Prince George community Oct. 1 at the second annual Y Champions hockey weekend.
Jennifer Botterill, who retired from women's hockey after Canada won the gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games will be the keynote speaker, while Ryan Walter, Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadians in 1986, will emcee the banquet.
Prior to the banquet Saturday, six teams will take part in a community tournament at the Prince George Coliseum, where the highest bidders from the reception Friday night will be coached by Botterill and Walters. Spectators are welcome at the tournament.
Banquet tickets go on sale Aug. 31 and can be purchased at the YMCA on Massey Drive individually or by table.
