Patti Knezevic and her Team B.C. rinkmates continued to struggle at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts national women's curling championship Tuesday in Moose Jaw.
Knezevic lost both her games and sits tied for last place with a 1-6 record. Quebec has also gone 1-6 so far.
In the Tuesday evening draw, B.C. fell 10-5 to Alberta, skipped by Val Sweeting. B.C. led 2-1 after three ends but Alberta scored three in the fourth end to take a 4-2 lead. B.C. tied things up with a deuce in the fifth but Alberta scored three more points in the sixth for a 7-4 advantage. With a single point in the seventh end, B.C. pulled into a 7-5 deficit. Alberta blanked the eighth end and then scored three in the ninth to finish the game.
Alberta moved to 6-0 and is tied at the top of the standings with Manitoba's Jennifer Jones.
Earlier Tuesday, Ontario's Julie Hastings dealt Knezevic and company a 9-4 loss. The game was all square at 2-2 after three ends but Hastings scored a deuce in the fourth for a 4-2 lead. The teams traded singles for the next three ends, until Hastings scored another deuce in the eighth and two more in the ninth to seal the win.
Ontario now has a 3-3 record.
Knezevic's lone win was a 7-4 decision against Prince Edward Island on Monday.
Today, Team B.C. battles Northern Ontario at 7 a.m. and New Brunswick at noon.
Knezevic's Team B.C. rink, which represents the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, includes third Kristen Fewster, second Jen Rusnell and lead Rhonda Camozzi.
