Friday night in Vancouver, the UNBC Timberwolves fell 88-78 to the UBC Thunderbirds in Game 2 of a best-of-three men's basketball playoff series. UBC won the opener, played Thursday night, 83-77.
After getting a scare from the Timberwolves in the first game, the Thunderbirds led Friday's contest from start to finish.
Conor Morgan, with 19 points, paced UBC in the victory. UNBC's Rhys Elliott responded with 19 points in a losing cause.
With Friday's loss, Jeff Chu, Franco Kouagnia and Devin McMurtry became graduates of the UNBC basketball program. All three players have now finished their five years of playing eligibility.
The T-wolves were first-time participants in the Canada West playoffs after a regular season that saw them post an impressive 12-8 record in the Explorer Division. UNBC finished second in the division to the University of the Fraser Valley (17-3).
