They come from all over Canada and the United States to play junior hockey in Prince George and to make that happen the community-owned Prince George Spruce Kings turn to their billet families to provide homes for the players.
With training camp just around the corner on Sept. 1, the Spruce Kings are hoping to round up more billets for the 2023-24 B.C. Hockey League season.
“We are in need of a couple more billet homes for our athletes,” said Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “Billet families are the lifeblood of our organization and it can be a very rewarding experience for the families and the players with the bonds that are created.”
Billet hosts are provided a monthly stipend from the Spruce Kings as well as season tickets for each family member.
