The Prince George Spruce Kings are a hurting bunch as the curtain is about to rise on the 2014-15 B.C. Hockey League regular season.
The Kings leave Friday for Chilliwack for the BCHL Showcase, where they'll open their season against the Nanaimo Clippers Saturday (6:30 p.m.) and follow with a game against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Sunday (11 a.m.).
But the injury bug has taken hold on several key players, especially on the blueline.
Among them is top defenceman Karan Toor, who sat out all four games during the pre-season with a lingering groin injury.
Kings head coach Dave Dupas said Toor is questionable to play but defencemen Valik Chichkin and Jake McCarthy definitely won't play in Chilliwack due to separated shoulders.
Forward Rider Stoglin suffered a concussion in the pre-season and will undergo a test today to see if he's ready to go.
The Spruce Kings return home from Chilliwack Sunday for another week of practice prior to traveling to Coquitlam Sept. 26-27 and Surrey on Sept. 28.
The Kings' home-opening weekend is slated for Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Coliseum where they'll battle the Chilliwack Chiefs.
