Fans attending the Prince George Spruce Kings game tonight will need a lineup card to identify the home players.
The Spruce Kings (12-7-1-3) made a pair of trades Thursday, trading away two players and picking up three from B.C. Hockey League rivals in addition to the always popular future considerations coming to Prince George at a later date.
Saying goodbye to Prince George are defenceman Bradley Ryan and forward Liam Board. The 19-year-old Board was shipped to the Vernon Vipers in exchange for 17-year-old Kevin Guiltinan, a six-foot-three, 205-pound defender from London, Ont., and futures. Meanwhile, Ryan heads to the Coquitlam Express for 17-year-old forward Jace Hennig and defenceman Mark Begert.
In 21 games with the Vipers, Guiltinan, who has committed to Harvard University, has one goal, while Hennig, committed to Merrimack University, has four goals, 16 points, spread over 45 games in two seasons with the Express. The 19-year-old Begert has played in the BCHL since 2009-10 when he broke into the league with the Nanaimo Clippers. Begert spent the past two seasons with the Express and has accumulated four goals, 16 points in 84 games.
All three players are expected to be in the Spruce Kings lineup tonight when they host the Surrey Eagles (13-7-1-3) in a battle for second place in the Mainland division. It'll be the fourth and fifth meetings of the season this weekend at the Coliseum between the Kings and Eagles. Prince George has a 2-0-0-1 record against the Eagles this season.
This weekend's games are the start of a seven-game home stand for the Spruce Kings.
Both contests with the Eagles get underway at 7 p.m.
