Dylan Anhorn knows what it takes to win.
He proved that last season playing midget hockey in Alberta as a captain of the Calgary Buffaloes.
The Buffaloes made winning a habit, rolling to a 24-4-6 regular season record and won their division in the Alberta Midget Hockey League, losing in the second round of the playoffs in a hard-fought four-game series with the Calgary Bisons.
Starting in late August, the 18-year-old defenceman from Calgary will have a new address when Anhorn comes west to play in the B.C. Hockey League for the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The Kings announced this week they've signed Anhorn, who scored five goals and had 20 assists for 25 points in 31 regular-season games with the Buffaloes.
"We are excited to have Dylan join the Spruce Kings for the upcoming season," said Spruce Kings head coach Adam Maglio. "Dylan is a high-character person and dedicated student of the game who will have an impact both on and off the ice. He is an exceptionally smart defencemen and has the ability to read the play well and exit the puck efficiently.
"Dylan brings an offensive prowess that will allow him to be a contributor in all areas of the game."
Training camp is less than four months away, starting on Aug, 24 at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena
