Spruce Capital fighters booked for Langley

Langley is only 20 kilometres away from the U.S. border crossing at Lynden, Wash., close enough to see the Fourth of July fireworks display.

Langley is only 20 kilometres away from the U.S. border crossing at Lynden, Wash., close enough to see the Fourth of July fireworks display.

But on that night at the Langley Cascade Casino Resort, boxers Colton Bilawchuk and Jason Nahal won't be looking for outdoor pyrotechnics. The two Spruce Capital Warriors Boxing Club members are bringing the explosive power of their fists into the ring to try to win their amateur bouts.

Bilawchuk, 21, and Nahal, 16, have yet to taste victory in the ring after they each lost their first debut bouts April 12 in Langley.

Bilawchuk will be fighting at 147 pounds, while Nahal is entered in the 120-pound class.

Spruce Capital coach Wayne Sponagle will be in their corner for the fights.
