Local throwers sharp in Quesnel

Vic Vallee and Ida Boschman kept the misses to a minimum at a horseshoe pitching tournament in Quesnel this past weekend.

Vallee finished first in two classes - senior men's 30-foot and mixed A - and was part of a three-way tie for top spot in mixed senior. Boschman, meanwhile, took the ladies B and senior ladies titles.

P.G. pitchers Mike Cunningham and Herb Boschman also competed. Cunningham tied with Vallee for first in mixed senior, was second in mixed A and third in senior men's 30-foot. Herb Boschman was sixth in senior men's 30-foot.

Abbotsford's Don Fleming was the other player in the deadlock for first in mixed senior. No playoff was held because of rain.

The Prince George Horseshoe Club will host a tournament this weekend. Games will be played at the club's home, located behind the YMCA in Carrie Jane Gray Park.
