The undefeated Cariboo Cougars play host to another undefeated squad today at Kin 1 arena as the third weekend of B.C. Major Midget Hockey League action gets underway.

The 3-0-1 Cats face off against the league-leading 4-0 the Greater Vancouver Canadians today at 4:45 p.m. and again tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

The Canadians possess the league's leading scorer in forward Kyle Uy who has potted four goals and seven assists in four games.

Cougars forward Darren Hards sits fourth in league scoring with one goal and seven assists, while his teammates Austin Gray and Steven Jandric are sixth and seventh respectively, both with four goals and three assists.

Timberwolves host Spartans on soccer pitch

UNBC's women's soccer side tackles one of the top university teams in the country this weekend as the Timberwolves host the Trinity Western Spartans in their final two home games of the season.

At 5-0-1 and winners of four straight games, the Spartans sit second behind the University of Fraser Valley with 16 points in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Canada West Pacific Division.

The T-wolves have lost six straight and are sixth in the division with two points.

Kick-off for both matches Saturday and Sunday at North Cariboo Soccer Fields is noon.

Meanwhile, UNBC's men also host the Spartans in a pair of contests at 2:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The 1-7 Timberwolves are sixth in the Pacific Division, seven points behind the 3-2-1 Spartans who have 10 points.

Both UNBC squads wraps up their regular season Oct. 10 and 11 on the road in Kamloops Oct. 10 and 11 against Thompson Rivers University WolfPack.

UNBC T-wolves down Kings, Ooks

It's so far so good for UNBC's men's basketball squad on the preseason hardcourt.

The Timberwolves beat Edmonton's NAIT Ooks 88-67 Friday afternoon and the Red Deer College Kings 84-65 Thursday at a preseason tourney at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

They tip-off against Calgary's Mount Royal University Cougars today at 11 a.m.

Both the men's and women's basketball squads will be competing in Winnipeg Oct. 24-28 in another exhibition tournament, prior to the start of the Canadian University Sport Canada West regular season on Nov. 7 and 8.
