Teams from Prince George and Quesnel will throw stones during a Special Olympics curling bonspiel today.

Four local rinks will be joined by four from Quesnel. Games will start at 10 a.m. and will wrap up at about 3:30 p.m. at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

"The athletes are excited as they don't get the chance to compete very often, and for some of the Prince George athletes, this will be their first curling bonspiel," said Wilma Van Hage, public relations coordinator for Special Olympics Prince George. "They are looking forward to putting their new skills to the test, as well as enjoying a fun day of curling."

Local curlers have been practicing weekly since November.
