The best leap of her life earned Alyx Treasure a silver medal in Texas.

Treasure, a local high jumper who competes for the Kansas State University Wildcats, soared to a second-place result at the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin on Saturday. She cleared the bar at 1.84 metres and finished behind only independent jumper Amy Acuff (1.95m). Entering the meet, Treasure's personal-best effort was a jump of 1.82m, which she accomplished back in her Grade 10 year at D.P. Todd secondary school. With that jump, she won gold at the B.C. high school championships in record-setting fashion.

Treasure also claimed provincial high school titles in Grades 11 and 12. She spent part of last season with the UBC Thunderbirds and, this season, headed south to join the Wildcats, who are based in Manhattan, Kansas.

The Clyde Littlefield meet, hosted by the University of Texas, was Treasure's first of the NCAA Division 1 outdoor season.
