They were facing one of the top clubs in the league, and the Bursey Buryn Cougars managed to steal a point.

The Cougars, who skate in the B.C. Hockey Female Midget AAA League, were in Langley on the weekend for three games against the Fraser Valley Phantom. The Cats held the Phantom to a 3-3 tie in the first game and lost the next two by scores of 7-4 and 7-3.

"We only had three lines and five defencemen so I'm happy (with the results)," said Cougars head coach Jason Garneau. "We competed hard and the girls saw what they need to work on. We need to do a better job in our own zone, just making sure we're staying on the right side of the puck. And our defence, we're working with them to close the gap, especially in the neutral zone."

The Cougars now have a 0-4-1 record this season. They'll be right back on the road on Thursday, when they head to Nelson for four games in two days. Opponents will be the Okanagan Rockets, Phantom, Vancouver Fusion and Kootenay Wildcats.
