Kodiaks down Williams Lake, move on to provincials

Win the shootout, qualify for provincials.

Members of the Prince George Under-13B Kodiaks girls soccer team found themselves in that pressure-packed situation Saturday night at Rotary Fields. Moments later, the P.G. girls were celebrating a memorable victory.

The Kodiaks were playing the second game of a zone championship doubleheader against the Williams Lake Hurricanes. The teams battled to a 0-0 draw in regulation time and remained scoreless after two 10-minute overtimes. In the shootout, each side sent six players to the penalty spot and the Kodiaks prevailed 3-2.

Earlier Saturday, Prince George and Williams Lake drew 1-1.

The Kodiaks are now getting ready for the B.C. tournament, July 7-11 in Richmond.

The Kodiaks are coached by Rod Auld and Claudia Whitehead. Team members are Keely Finch, Priya Badial, Sam Brewer, Allie Bursey, Tiana Mager, Alyssa Whitehead, Robin Keahey, Megan Hickey, Nasia Sheikh, Alyssa Gould, Jocelyn Forrest, Bonnie Greer, Hailee McKenna, Hanna Hughes and Kyrsten Franz.
