Don Reeves and Merl Sinoski don't often miss their targets. At a recent provincial championship event in Mission, the two members of the Prince George Rod and Gun Club were as sharp as ever with rifles in their hands.

Reeves and Sinoski took aim during the Silhouette shooting provincials. In standard rifle, Reeves started out in the single-A division but hit 34 out of 40 targets and was moved up to the triple-A class. There, he went 34-for-40, 29-for-40 and 30-for-40 and finished first overall.

Also in the triple-A class, Sinoski placed third overall in standard rifle. In two rounds of shooting, his scores were 31 out of 40 and 23 out of 40.

Both men also took part in the double-A division high power shoot. Reeves, with a score of 54 out of 80, was the winner and Sinoski (40-for-80) placed second.

Silhouette shooting involves knocking down small steel cutouts of various animals. Distances range from 40 metres to 500 metres. Scopes are used, but slings to support the rifles are not permitted.

Reeves and Sinoski will be attending several other shoots around the province, in preparation for the national championships in Calgary in August.
