It came down to three teams with only two berths available.

When the dust settled the Kelly Road Roadrunners qualified, along with North Peace of Fort St. John, for the triple-A boys volleyball provincial championship in Kelowna, Nov. 28 to Dec. 1. The Prince George secondary Polars were left out of the provincial picture.

North Peace earned the top seed from the north-central region beating the Roadrunners in the best-of-five final Saturday, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15 and 26-24), to finish the zone playoff with an unblemished record.

The Roadrunners earned the second berth after spiking the Polars chances in the semifinal with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-17 and 25-17) victory.

Kelly Road was led by all-stars John Polnik and Jeff Ainsworth. Despite their season-ending loss, the Polars had two players named as all-stars - Riley McDonald and Norjon Dadula. The three remaining selections were from North Peace, Jayden Roberts, Andrew Stewart and Blaine Cranstron.

In Friday's round-robin action, North Peace earned the bye to the final with straight sets wins over both Prince George schools. They beat Kelly Road 25-11, 25-22 and knocked off PGSS 25-19, 25-11. The Roadrunners beat the Polars 2-1 (25-19, 20-25 and 15-9).

Condors top Cougars in AA action

Both the Duchess Park Condors and College Heights Cougars knew they had earned a spot in the double-A provincial championship in Kelowna, Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, before they played in Friday's final, but city bragging rights were on the line.

In the end, the Condors showed why they're the second-ranked school in British Columbia with a straight sets, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19 and 25-22), victory over the sixth-ranked Cougars.
