Sterling King returned from Kamloops with a new collection of precious medals.

The Prince George Barracudas Swim Club member brought home three gold and two bronze medals from the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games.

"When I jumped into the water we had about a one or two second lead," said the 15-year-old about anchoring Team B.C. in the 4 X 200 freestyle relay. "We were a little bit nervous about how we would place because Team Alberta was very fast.

"At the end, when I hit the wall and saw that I won it was really exhilarating," he added. "The whole team was really happy."

In addition to gold in the 4 X 200 freestyle relay, King was a part of the gold-medal winning 4 X 100 freestyle relay and 4 X 100 medley relay teams.

"My favourite part of the event was being on the relays, because we had phenomenal support from the team and crowd," said King.

He also picked up the bronze medal for the 100-metre and 200m butterflies.
