The Parksville Royals put together a Cinderella finish in the B.C. Premier Baseball League playoffs and pitcher Parker McBurnie of Prince George was a big part of that story,
The 18-year-old lefty was one of the aces of the Royals’ staff and was also one of their best hitters, which paid off in a scholarship for McBurnie with Prairie Baseball Academy at the University of Lethbridge.
McBurnie hit .317 during this season and led the team with a .922 OPS. He batted .474 through five playoff games.
Two years ago, McBurnie was part of the first Prince George team to win the U18 triple-A provincials.
Former Knight Logan Dreher, who played this year for White Rock, has signed with North Dakota.
