Prince George Cougars sign 2008-born forward Lemire

Edmonton native picked 37th overall in WHL Prospects Draft

The Prince George Cougars have signed forward prospect Kayden Lemire of Edmonton, selected 37th overall in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Forward prospect Kayden Lemire has officially joined the Prince George Cougars family.

The 2008-born native of Edmonton, picked by the Cats in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, has signed a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The 15-year-old Lemire stood out in the 2023 draft class after turning in a productive season playing in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League for the OHA Edmonton U-15s. In 27 games, he potted 28 goals and had 35 assists for 63 points. In three playoff games, he collected two goals and an assist.

He also has size on his side, listed at six-foot-four, 176 pounds.

“He brings size, skill, and scoring to the table and will be a big part of our future,” said Cougars director of scouting Bob Simmonds. “We’re looking forward to seeing him at training camp in the fall.”
