Robertson's big kill a key for Condors in volleyball final

The Duchess Park Condors were in need of a momentum-changing play. With a crushing cross-court kill shot, David Robertson gave it to them.

In Saturday's deciding set of the gold-medal match at the Pumpkin Poundaround junior boys volleyball tournament, the host Condors were trailing the College Heights Cougars 8-3. On the next point, the Grade 10 Robertson was fed a ball on the power side, leaped high in the air, and absolutely demolished it.

The Grade 10 Robertson ripped two more balls at the Cougars' defence on the subsequent two rallies. One was saved by College Heights libero Brennan Schwab but the other went for another Duchess point. Eventually, the Condors pulled themselves into a 10-10 tie with the Cougars and ended up winning the set 15-13.

"If you have a bad run, you've got to get that one perfect hit to get your team pumped back up," said Duchess Park power hitter/middle blocker Nathan Pawluk. "That was our spark."
