At the 2012 triple-A girls provincial basketball tournament at Capilano University the Prince George Secondary Polars are still searching for their first win.

The Polars opened the tournament Wednesday against the powerful second-seed from Brookswood and to no one's surprise were crushed 84-28. Mavia Nijjer led the Polars with 15 points.

In their second game Thursday the Polars held a 35-34 advantage over the New Westminister Hyacks at the half. PGSS trailed 59-55 with five minutes to play, but wound up falling 74-57. The chances of a comeback for the Polars disappeared when Nijjer fouled out with five minutes left in the game. Nijjer had 27 points before taking a seat, while Kelsey Videgain had 11.

Haydn Molcak led the charge for the Trojans with 17 points, while Justin Bennett was handed the task of shutting down St. George's six-foot-seven post. Bennett's defence was "excellent" for the one-on-one effort, according to Trojans' coach James Kondratuk.
